Why do People Kiss?
Have you ever wondered why people kiss? I know I have. I have always wondered who came up with this gesture, and why this gesture out of all of them? Kissing has always found it`s way in our culture. We can find it in the greatest romances, we find it in history, in religion, in the marriage, the foundation of our society, we find it between close friends, relatives, people of the same sex. Everybody is kissing for all sorts of reasons. Kissing has been a great part of the culture of many countries. We can easily find it in different traditions and it`s meaning can be quite interesting. If we think about it, kissing is now an act of love, but it was exposed in the Bible as an act of betrayal. This only goes to show how complex this action seems to be and how deep its meanings can get.
A kiss is nothing else than two body parts touching. The persons involved in the act will used their lips and optional tongue to gently or passionately massage each other mouths. There is nothing special so far. It`s kind of grouse actually. So, what would determine people to get involved in an act where they would actually exchange saliva? This is what we have as a proof of intimate love. A contact between two open mouths is the thing everyone makes such a fuss about. It sounds pretty weird when you look at it that way. But you see, this is what is truly magical about the act of kissing. It is not actually about the physical contact as much as it is about the spiritual connection kissing can develop and the feelings it can bring out. A simple physical act can make us see a person trough an entire different perspective. We can have feeling for that person that will eventually determine us to spend our whole lives with them. This is not always the case though, as people kiss without falling in love. Still, as the mouth is a sensitive place, different stimuli are being activated and the body starts reacting sexually.
Although that was the romance type of kissing, there are several other reasons that determine people to kiss. For example, people kiss on the cheek when they meet their friends, they kiss the holly objects in churches and mothers kiss their children on the cheeks, forehead, hands, feet, and practically just about anywhere. A couple kisses on the mouth once they return from work, people kiss the person they are standing next to on New Year Eve, they kiss when they are standing under a mistletoe, grand parents kiss they grandkids, colleagues kiss when they have a birthday boy or girl at work or at school, the bride and the groom kiss once their marriage has been pronounced. As you can see, people find several reasons to kiss other people. So, next time you ask yourself why people kiss, you can think about love, friendship, respect and belief.
